I am obsessed with avocados and love making guacamole, but I’m always looking for ways to change things up. I recently made Pea Protein Guacamole by swapping out half the avocados in my recipe for peas. My reasoning is that I was swapping out half the fat and adding more protein and nutrients. Peas have 3 times more protein than avocado, no fat and half the calories. Also, peas are relatively bland in flavor that by mixing it with avocado you will barely notice the difference.  Although fats found in avocados are healthy fats, I still recommend moderation because it’s still high in calories. I think my pea protein guacamole is a great swap if you’re looking to cut back on calories, but don’t want to sacrifice on the taste. I served my pea protein guacamole this with blue corn flaxseed chips. Peas are also a great source of plant based protein. If you’r obsessed with avocados like I am then you can do this swap with more than guacamole. Imagine cutting half the fat and 1/3 the calories from your morning avocado toast? Does that mean you can eat 1/3 more? I think I like that idea too! Have I sold you on peas yet?
