Origins Plantscription Recipe Journey

September 27, 2014 By My Nguyen Leave a Comment

After viewing a recent released video featuring the discovery and creation of the ingredients used in Origins’ Plantscription product line, mainly the Anti-Aging Power Serum, I decided to go on my own scavenger hunt.

The short film features two ladies; a chef and a travel writer, embarking on a journey to several continents to discover the powerful natural ingredients used in Plantscription products.

The short chronicles their journey to three different countries, each being the home to important ingredients native to these countries that all contribute to the success and power of the Origins’ Plantscription line.

Their first stop was France to search for Crithmum, a plant that grows along the coast.

Their next stop was Australia in search of bamboo, which contains properties to help fight wrinkles and lastly, they then went in search of peas, which is a great source of amino acids.

I get asked all the time how I come up with the recipes I create, especially since I have no professional culinary background. It started with my quest to eat healthier, to start cooking more food at home, and dining out less. Recipes come to me randomly; I can be flipping through a magazine and see a dish that looks appetizing, or go to a restaurant and try something different. It could be even something non-related to a food, like a song or even the change in weather. This past weekend I decided to take a trip to my local farmers market with no recipe in mind.

I strolled from one vendor to another until I came across an older gentleman selling squashes. He said “That the butternut squash were just freshly picked and incredibly sweet.” Coincidentally, the lady next to me mentioned she just grew nine large ones in her garden. She seemed very passionate about her garden and shared with me her family favorite butternut squash soup recipe. It sounded delicious, but I still I wanted to tweak it to make it my own.

That’s when inspiration set in, instead of soup I can make curry with the squash! This is when my creative juices start and one dish will inspire another. At this moment, I thought of the bamboo and peas used in the Plantscription products and knew I had to incorporate these ingredients.

I purchased my butternut squash and gathered peas and bamboo shoots excited to get home and recipe test.
